Not that Burchfield is inaccessible...but he can seem bleak and grim sometimes and rather madly exuberant other times. It helps to put him in the context of Dove and Hartley and the idea of his being in the tradition of Emerson and Thoreau is just glorious!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1855379457232049997.post-14062216898111149012010-09-16T23:26:21.317-04:002010-09-16T23:26:21.317-04:00Gomaar, I certainly will make every effort to see...Gomaar, I certainly will make every effort to see the show. Buffalo's new Burchfield-Penney Center is a treasure trove of his works, along with other significant Western New York artists and is worth a trip.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1855379457232049997.post-70954090493488744802010-09-16T04:45:29.245-04:002010-09-16T04:45:29.245-04:00I don't remember those specific titles, but it...I don't remember those specific titles, but it's a big show with a lot of work. It's up for a while, so if you get a chance to see it you should. I think of Burchfield as someone who's kind of hard not to like. Thanks for the comment. I agree with your interpretation of his myriad moods and subsequent demonds. Are "Orian in Winter," and/or "Autumnal Fantasy" in the show?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1855379457232049997.post-27980003458790572792010-09-04T16:05:31.843-04:002010-09-04T16:05:31.843-04:00Yeah.
